Keeping Campaign Stats Clean with the Anti-Abuse Bot Filter

Learn how PostbackFlow filters out click spam from search engines, crawlers, and ad spy tools to protect your server resources and conversion metrics.

The Headache: Click Spam and Competitor Spying

When you run paid campaigns, not every visit to your landing page represents a real human customer. A significant portion of your traffic consists of bots:
1. Search Engine Crawlers: Googlebot, Bingbot, or Yandex checking your page for quality and safety.
2. Competitor Spy Bots: Automated scrapers (like AdSpy or PowerAdSpy) scanning your links to copy your winning creatives and landing pages.
3. Ad Network Compliance Bots: Facebook or Google bots reviewing your landing pages for policy compliance.

If you don't filter out this bot traffic:

PostbackFlow solves this with the Built-in Anti-Abuse Bot Filter.

How the Bot Filter Works

Our routing engine evaluates every incoming click request before saving logs or initiating redirects:

1. User-Agent Inspection: The system parses the browser's User-Agent string.
2. Pattern Matching: It runs a regex check against an optimized database of known bot signatures (Googlebot, Bingbot, Yandex, Yahoo, Baidu, Ahrefs, SEMrush, AdSpy, scrapers, headless browsers, etc.).
3. Smart Skip Logic: If a bot is detected:
* Bypasses Database Log: The click is not recorded in the database, preserving your quota and keeping your statistics clean.
* Bypasses Postbacks: No conversions are triggered or retroactively matched for this click.
* Immediate Redirect: The bot is allowed to proceed to the offer page (or a safe compliance page) so ad networks don't flag the redirect behaviour as suspicious.

Setting Up Bot Filtering

The bot filter is fully integrated and easy to manage:

1. Open Tracking Links in the Console.
2. Create or edit a campaign card.
3. In the campaign options, toggle Bot Filter Enabled to active.
4. Click Save.

The campaign will now automatically filter out compliance bots, spy scrapers, and search engine crawlers from your click statistics.
